So my husband and I took a trip to Dubai this April. It was just breathtaking. Just amazing what humankind is capable of doing in just 30 years. We got to spend 5 days which I believe is enough to see the "must see places." It was awesome, would I go again? I don't know. Anything that comes close to being natural is the "safari tour." Even that is so touristy and cheesy.  There are other places in the world that is waiting for me to be discovered. Highly commercialized city. There are way more KFCs than authentic arabic restaurants. Before we traveled we were made to believe that Dubai is cheap. Wrong, wrong. Dubai is not cheap. At least if you want to stay in a nice hotel with a nice view and shop in extravagant malls. And if you don't, you will find some sweet deals. That works too. But if you want to see what Dubai is about, you have to spend some money. Expansive restaurants, hotels, and shopping malls- thats what Dubai is really about. Prices are ridiculous. Nevertheless, if you get a chance, do go to Dubai. At least for the sake of seeing the "self claimed" 7- star hotel Burj al Arab, the tallest building in the world- Burj Khalifa, and the Dubai Fountain that is probably larger than the Fountain of Bellagio in Vegas.
